In August 2017 we launched a Kickstarter campaign that raised 1,200% of its goal.

Videography

Before Specdrums, I directed video productions for small and medium sized companies.

Social Media

I was responsible for content creation and social media at Specdrums before the acquisition to Sphero.

We grew a following from nothing into an engine that truly drove sales. I also filled in as interim social media manager at Sphero through the Holiday season and more.

Sadly in the fall of 2019, Sphero finally deleted the old social media accounts leading into the holiday season. We planned to delete them a long time ago but strategically left them because there was a wealth of relevant product information. I deeply wish that I could share more content and posts with you, but all I have left is a screenshot from when one of our posts was going viral.

Knowledge base

As Specdrums began to arrive in customer’s hands, we began to take shifts on customer support. About a month later, I wanted to create an official self service portal for users to help themselves to answers, ask questions, and watch tutorials. I am very proud of the impact this made on the team, and for how thorough the help desk was. The knowledge base has since migrated over to Sphero’s help desk following the acquisition. The previous help desk was hosted on WixAnswers, who put up a paywall leaving me unable to readily go back in and harvest examples from our deactivated page. If you wish to audit this I will be more than happy access it.

Building a brand in 4 days

A client was so impressed by our professionalism, he asked if we could build his website. The only catch was that the site needed to be finalized in 7 days for an upcoming trade show.

What I am most proud of from this project isn’t the website itself, but rather that I could finally flex my entrepreneurial muscle outside of college courses to develop an effective website and brand, largely overnight. With my collaborator on this project, we also put together print materials, business cards, and a logo. We rounded it out in an incredibly short amount of time to allow for review, revision, and printing. Our client was over the moon to be so prepared for his Las Vegas trade show. His website and logo is being used years after the successful launch. For the record, the owner requested the copy: Every Ingredient Measured - Every Second Counted - Each Batch a Smarter Batch.”

Web Copy

My approach to writing copy is simple.

My favorite rule of thumb is the rule of three. Like all great designs, less is more. If prospects did not grasp these three things about our product, they didn’t have a foundation of understanding to view any other information on or off our site.

Sphero’s original intent for this prominent visual section on Specdrums product page was to discuss the technical specifications of the light sensor, accelerometer, firmware, and more. During a web review meeting I gained consensus toward repurposing the section to provide the product’s essential elevator pitch. In about 20 minutes following the meeting, I drafted what would become this section of copy.
